BRIEF HISTORY NPOWER – FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE PROGRAM PUT FORWARD BY BUHARI ADMINISTRATION TO EMPOWER YOUNG, EMPLOYED AND UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE WITH A VIEW TO ERADICATING UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE COUNTRY.

This Brief History of Npower – Npower Nigeria has provided an opportunity for skills and knowledge that are the driving forces for economic growth and social development. Despite the current high level of unemployment, harnessing Nigeria’s young population through appropriate skills development efforts offers an opportunity to achieve inclusion and productivity within the country. Premium skill development is the main policy thrust of the N-Power programme

Npower is also related to the policies of the Federal Government in the areas of economic, employment and social development. N-Power addresses the challenge of youth unemployment by providing a framework for the acquisition of broad-based and relevant work skills and development with linking its essence and results to reforming inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy.

The modular programs under the N-Power will ensure that each participant learns and practices most of what is necessary to find or create work. N-Power Volunteer Corp includes a massive deployment of 500,000 trained alumni who will help improve inefficiencies in our public education, health, and civil services. Some of these graduates will also help realize Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations for food security and self-sufficiency. With Npower Brief History, it will also be a platform for diversifying the economy. N-Power is preparing Nigerian youth for a knowledge economy, quipped with world-class skills and certifications, they have become innovators and movers in the local and global markets. Nigeria will have a pool of software developers, hardware service professionals, animators, graphic artists, building services professionals, craftsmen and more. N-Power also focuses on providing non-graduates with relevant technical and business skills that enhance their job prospects and livelihoods.

Requirement to apply for Npower Prgramme

N-Power aspires to provide a platform where most Nigerians can access and develop skills. However, at this time, the initial modular programs at N-Power are designed for Nigerian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35. Also, applicant will need to meet the minimum requirements (if any) for your particular programme. In general, the choice depends on:

On your expression of genuine interest in whatever field you choose;

pass the relevant exams;

your willingness to push yourself beyond your comfort zone; And the ability to show taste to develop all the skills you need to be at your best.

Meanwhile, Npower just celebrated one year of service excellence with over 200,000 beneficiaries. Note that although there are fixed requirements along the way, Npower will rely on you to take ownership of the process and take the lead in shaping your path, in ensuring that the best made out of the the training you will receive. For N-Power purposes, graduate means any post-university qualification including Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) or as the Program may specify.

About the N-Power Volunteer Corps

The N-Power Volunteer Corps is a post-phase III engagement initiative for Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35. It is a paid, voluntary two-year program. Graduates will assume their primary duties in specific public services within their nearby communities.

All N-Power volunteers are entitled to computing equipment containing the information necessary for their specific participation, as well as information for ongoing training and development.

In 2016, the federal government recruited 200,000 N-Power volunteers. In 2017, the federal government recruited another 300,000. The June 2017 application is only open to the Graduate Class – N-Power Volunteer Corps.

N-Power volunteers will provide teaching, learning and advisory solutions in 4 key areas

About N-Power Knowledge

The N-Power Knowledge Program is the federal government’s first step towards diversification in the knowledge economy. This program will work in tandem with the eight planned innovation centers across the country to provide incubation and acceleration for the technology and creative industries. The program is a ‘training for jobs’ initiative, a core ensuring that participants can engage in the market in an outsourced capacity, as self-employed workers, as employees and as entrepreneurs.

About N-Power Build

N-Power Build is an accelerated (skills-to-job) training and certification program that will engage and train 75,000 young, unemployed Nigerians in order to build a new crop of skilled and highly qualified workforce of technicians, craftsmen and service professionals.
