DSS -- we did not Arrest any Channels TV Presenter

On Thursday, the Department of State Services [DSS] debunks the news of arresting Channels Television presenters.

Dr Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer of the Service, in a brief comment in a WhatsApp platform said, ‘The DSS did not arrest any Channels TV presenters as falsely published in sections of the Media. Fake news vendors should avoid the act.’

Afunanya further noted this in a statement tagged ‘THE DSS DID NOT ARREST ANY CHANNELS TELEVISION REPORTERS’.

He said in his briefing, ‘It has come to the attention of the DSS, the news making the rounds in some sections of the media that its officers had earlier today, August 26th, 2021 arrested two journalists of Channels Television. The news is untrue and misleading. False news vendors should avoid the act.’

The spokesman was responding to reports that the Service had apprehended the moderators of Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television breakfast programme, about the interviews carried out in the programme on Wednesday.

The Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom and another guest, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (Retd) were the guests with which the interviews were conducted.
