A socio-cultural group called Ndinne Igbo has taken to street to lament how killer herdsmen are killing the lives of Igbo villagers who are predominantly farmers. The group condemned the attacks by herdsmen in Ebonyi and Enugu State respectively.
The Igbo women socio-cultural organization is calling for more proactive and conflict resolution measures to ameliorate the menace. They further stated that Igbo women and children are the most victims of the herdsmen incessant attacks.
The protesters who are old and young married igbo women in a statement signed by Mrs. Beatrice Chukwubuike, the President of the association, disclosed that the association has concluded plans to march naked in all Igbo states to protest the endless killings and alleged raping of women and children.
The organization is popularly called Ndi Nne among igbos. They further called on Nigeria government and all states in Igbo land to do the needful by taking the necessary measures before the crisis escalate further.
Another group called Coalition of Christian Leaders domiciled in south-eastern part of Nigeria has warned that they would march to government houses in the whole region to register their anger on how the governors of all the states are handling the crisis that have claimed the lives of their people.
Pastor Okey Idika who is the spokesman of the coalition, explained that it will be negligent of social responsibility if the Communities in South East refuses to register their displeasure on the life threatening issue.
He further threatened to mobilize women and able men of God to show their displeasure on the incessant killings going on in the igbo zone by suspected herdsmen.
